Musashi Kosugi Hospital was opened in June 1937 as Maruko Hospital affiliated to Nippon Medical School; and ever since then, the hospital has been in this very place for more than 70 years. The hospital has been growing together with the people of this area and certainly hopes to be loved and to be trusted for many years to come; and for that we will strive to do our very best continuously.
Unfortunately, Japan has been in an economic recession. However, under such challenging economic circumstances, we still strive our very best to deliver services that are satisfactory to everyone who visits our hospital.
Indeed, I strongly believe that the very passion to do better and to improve the quality of our hospital is cultivated more strongly when times are hard and tough. Accordingly, the hospital staff is all passionately united to do his/her best to overcome any current difficulty to further improve the quality of our services in the future.
First on the list to achieve this was to amend the medical treatment environment. We have been working on amending the hospital environment for the past 10 years.
In 2006, Kanagawa Prefecture has assigned our hospital’s Emergency and Critical Care Department as Emergency and Critical Care Center.
In 2010, we have opened Minimally Invasive Endovascular Treatment Center. The physicians of Department of Radiology mainly take charge and collaborate with physicians from various departments such as; Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gastroenterology, Anesthesiology, Plastic Surgery, and Emergency and Critical Care Center. We aim to practice minimally invasive procedures as much as possible, but if and when needed, we have surgical doctors’ full support.
In addition, we have made Prenatal, Pediatric Medical Center that includes Department of Neonatology and Department of Pediatrics. This center will operate in cooperation with our exisiting Department of Obstetrics, Department of Pediatrics, and NICU (neonatal intensive care).
Moreover, from April 1, 2013, we have opened Intensive Care Units (ICU/ICC) with six beds.
In this way, we have steadily been promoting the improvement of the medical treatment environment. However, the most important thing is to improve the culture of the hospital that is created by the behavior and attitude of the whole staff. How is the atmosphere of our hospital once our patients stepped inside the main entrance? Is it friendly and lively? Is it dark and gloomy? Are the patients welcomed with smiles? Or with grumpy faces? Does the staff look enthusiastic and are they all cooperating? Are they talking to the patients and their family to make them feel at home?
Indeed, each and every staff of the hospital creates the culture and the atmosphere of the hospital. A little care and attention for the patients go a long way. We will continue to strive passionately to provide our patients with great medical care.
